Last Friday, 30 of our talented choir students took part in the BBC Get Singing event at the BBC Philharmonic Studios in MediaCity. The event formed part of the wider 'Contains Strong Language' Poetry and Performance Festival and was a fantastic cultural experience for everyone involved.

The day was an incredible opportunity for our students to experience music-making on a much bigger scale. Alongside around 270 other young singers, our choir learned two new songs before coming together for a spectacular ensemble performance.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to listen to and sing alongside the professional BBC Singers. It was inspiring for our students to hear professional musicians performing live and then join them in making music together.

Our students worked brilliantly throughout the experience, showing enthusiasm, confidence and a real love of singing. Two of our students, Ophelia and Iona, even got a shout out from the presenter for their excellence! Being part of such a large choir was an unforgettable experience and gave everyone the chance to see just how powerful music can be when so many voices come together.

Annie in Year 8 described the experience as ‘amazing’ and said, ‘I especially loved singing in harmony’. Barbrella in year 11 was so inspired by the experience she said, ‘it’s given me hope and something to aim for in my career.’ A huge well done to all 30 students who represented #Team Woodhey so wonderfully. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, enthusiasm and fantastic singing!
