At the start of this academic year, school counsellors from each Year 9 form chose an animal beginning with the same letter as their form to represent the values they felt were most important to them. These animals became symbols of the qualities and values that students were encouraged to demonstrate throughout the year, providing a fun and meaningful way to promote our school values of Respect and Excellence.
As the year progressed, one form consistently stood out for the way they embodied the characteristics of their chosen animal. 9A impressed staff through their teamwork, positive attitude, commitment to school life and willingness to support one another. In recognition of their efforts, they were awarded a special prize: the sponsorship of an ant through the Eden Project.
9A chose an ant because they "move like a single unstoppable force, turning simple teamwork into a superpower and proving that even the smallest creatures can shape the world." Throughout the year, 9A brought this description to life. In lessons, assemblies, enrichment activities and daily interactions around school, students demonstrated that working together can achieve far more than working alone.
We are incredibly proud of 9A. Their achievement demonstrates the power of teamwork, resilience and community spirit, and shows exactly why they were deserving winners of this year's sponsorship challenge.
What is the Eden Project?
The Eden Project, located in Cornwall, is an educational charity and visitor attraction dedicated to inspiring people to better understand and care for the natural world. Famous for its iconic biomes, which house plants from a wide range of climates and environments, the Eden Project promotes environmental education, conservation and sustainability. Through its work, it encourages people to think about how individuals and communities can make a positive difference to the world around them. By sponsoring an ant through the Eden Project, Woodhey is supporting an organisation that shares many of the values we seek to develop in our students. The sponsorship serves as a reminder that even the smallest actions can have a meaningful impact when combined with the efforts of others. ·
