On Friday 22nd March, a group of Year 7 students were privileged to attend the Bolton Children's Book Awards, 2024.
The students were able to read a range of award-winning books to inspire and motivate them to read a range of fiction texts, as well as meeting esteemed authors throughout the day.
S.F.Said joined the event via a live link, sharing inspiration for his works and participating in a question-and-answer session, with Laini and Olive lucky enough to be able to put some thought-provoking questions to the author.
Author Lily Bailey then joined the students, talking about her latest release: 'When I Feel Red.' This time, it was Arthur and Harriet who were the lucky ones who got to ask questions. Lily spent time with students, helping them make Origami bookmarks and posing for photographs.
Lastly, a storyteller was invited to the stage. He shared stories of World War II, from real life diary entries, sharing the harrowing, inspiring and tear-jerking stories from the War.
It was a great event and an honour to be able to attend, allowing students to engage with renowned authors and further develop their love of reading. Roll on the 2025 awards now!
