Year 8 have: “The best week ever!”

At the end of June, Year 8 attended a residential at Kibblestone International Scout Camp as a reward for a fantastic academic year, and to help them to build resilience, teamwork and confidence skills. They had a great time, with one student describing it as: ‘The best week ever!’

Oliver, from Year 8, tells us all about it:

‘#Team Woodhey
Over these past three days, Year Eight students of Woodhey High School attended a residential trip at Kibblestone International Scout Camp. During these three days the students had to endure the scorching heat of rainy Britain. During the camp they were tasked with team building exercises as they were challenged to build the tents that they would eventually sleep in for the duration of their stay. Once the tents were arranged and built the students were split into activity groups. These groups would complete activities together. These activities included:
-    Rock Climbing
-    Abseiling
-    Axe Throwing
-    Crate Stacking
-    Jacobs Ladder

And many more. No matter the challenge, students pushed themselves further than before as some conquered their fear of heights as they climbed higher and higher on the rock-climbing wall and some students even found an interest in some of the other activities. Such as:
-    Fire Making
-    Den Building
-    Orienteering

Also, during their time away, England faced Slovenia in their third match in the Euros competition. Fortunately, the camp was kind enough to let the students watch the game on a projector outside. Even though the game wasn’t as entertaining as we all wanted it to be the students were very grateful that they had the opportunity to watch the game.

The students had an amazing experience at Kibblestone International Scout Camp and highly recommended it as they had an amazing time. We also want to thank the staff for their participation in ensuring the children enjoyed themselves.’
