Year 10 Tackle PGL

Our annual Year 10 residential took place from Friday 12th to Monday 15th July at Caythorpe Court in Grantham.

Students were challenged to push themselves outside of their comfort zones, tackle their fears and work collaboratively to support each other to be successful. They took part in a range of adventurous activities, including trapeze, leap of faith, Jacob's Ladder, raft building and knife skills, which all helped to build teamwork and resilience in the students. The residential is a key part of our personal development programme to support students in developing their softer skills to be fully prepared for life after school.

Eloise shared with us her experiences of the trip:

'On our recent trip to PGL in Caythorpe court we did a range of fun activities. Both students and teachers all had a brilliant weekend spending time together. Some of my personal favourite memories was playing Frisbee all evening, the campfire, raft building and the giant swing. Not only were the activities fun but all the PGL staff members were so welcoming and really helped make our time there a better experience.

Another thing I liked was that all the teachers who came with us joined in with every activity we did, this made the students see a personable side to them. One of the unexpected highlights was that the euros final fell on one of the days we were there. Although it wasn't the expected score for England, we all got to watch it in the canteen with an incredible atmosphere.

This was a great way to end our time in year 10, especially after our first set of mocks. Altogether this was an amazing weekend and I'm very grateful to the teachers who gave up their own time to take us there.'
