On Thursday 28th November, we welcomed back our Class of 2024 to celebrate their fantastic exam results.
Students were welcomed back into school for the evening, and were inspired by Kathryn Burn, a finalist from BBC’s The Apprentice in 2022. Kathryn talked about her career, the lessons she had learned and some important life messages for students as they undertake their journey of life after school. Kathryn implored students to not wait for perfection and take every opportunity that presents itself. Kathryn talked about her career, starting up her own pyjama business, and the knocks she has faced along the way, motivating students to use setbacks as learning points and steps to spur themselves onto greatness.
Following her speech, Kathryn kindly presented GCSE certificates to students and subject awards for those students who had achieved excellence, and those who had made the most progress. Awards were also presented to students from each form group who consistently demonstrated our values, and to our top twenty outstanding performers across school, as well as recognition for last academic year’s Senior Student Ambassadors. Before the evening was closed by our current Senior Student Ambassadors, the main awards of the night were presented:
The Frank Bennett Trophy for Academic Excellence: Polly Fordham
Martin Braidley Cup for Progress: James Ackers
Music Contribution Award: Isabelle Fagan
Sporting Achievement: Ed Dickinson
Services to School: Lily Tyson
Kathryn Dobson Prize for making Outstanding Progress in Maths: Isobel Hall
A huge congratulations to all of our award winners, and to the year group as a whole for their fantastic contributions to, and achievements at, Woodhey. We would like to wish the Class of 2024 the very best for the future.
