On Friday, 28th February, Year 10 students from Woodhey High School had an incredible opportunity to attend the JD Up exhibition at Manchester Central. As part of our Personal Development programme, The Pledge, this event was all about opening doors to future career possibilities, and it did not disappoint!
Talha from Year 10 said, "From the moment we stepped into the venue, it was clear that JD Up was more than just a careers fair—it was an experience!". Students got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at JD, learning about exciting career opportunities in finance, legal, and group transformation. Whether it was understanding the ins and outs of the business world or getting a glimpse into the retail giant’s growth, there was something for everyone.
Jack in Year 10 said, "One of the highlights was the hands-on activities that brought different industries to life". Our students got to find out through impressive simulators showcasing careers in transport and distribution. For those who love design and creativity, the chance to personalise their very own JD duffle bag was a hit!
But it wasn’t just about fun and games—there was plenty of inspiration, too. Students got to hear from some of the biggest names at JD, plus social media star Angry Ginge also made an appearance, giving an energetic and motivating talk about how passion and perseverance can turn dreams into reality.
Overall, the JD Up exhibition gave our Year 10 students a valuable glimpse into the working world, showing them the huge variety of career paths available. It was an eye-opening experience that left everyone buzzing with ideas about their future.
A huge thank you to JD and all the inspiring speakers for making this event such a success. We can’t wait to see where our students’ journeys take them next!
