As part of our school’s Personal Development Programme and in support of The Pledge, students recently enjoyed an exciting and enriching day out to Hebden Bridge. The trip was made possible thanks to the generous support of Community Rail, who kindly funded the train travel and led the day’s activities.
The day began with a visit to Accrington Eco Station, where students learned about the importance of sustainability and how train stations like Accrington are leading the way in green initiatives. From there, we continued our journey by train to the picturesque town of Hebden Bridge.
Once in Hebden Bridge, the group enjoyed a peaceful walk through the charming streets, learning about the town's history and environment. The visit was both educational and enjoyable, giving students a chance to explore a new place, build their independence, and connect with their local community.
After the walk, the students had some well-earned free time to relax and play in the town’s beautiful park. The sunshine, laughter, and shared experiences made for an unforgettable afternoon.
This trip was not only a chance to get out of the classroom, but also an opportunity for students to develop confidence, learn about community initiatives, and enjoy the benefits of rail travel—all key elements of our personal development goals.
A huge thank you goes to Community Rail and especially to David Savage, who hosted us throughout the day and ensured everything ran smoothly. His enthusiasm and knowledge made the day extra special.
A great time was had by all, and we look forward to more experiences like this as part of our commitment to helping students grow, explore, and thrive beyond the classroom.
