Our recent Transition Days on the 1st and 2nd July were a fantastic success, giving Year 6 students a brilliant introduction to life at Woodhey High School. As part of our Personal Development Programme, the two days were carefully designed to support a smooth, confident move into Year 7 this September.

Throughout the visit, students were introduced to our Woodhey Pledge – a commitment to helping every student grow, belong, and thrive. The Transition Days gave students a real taste of what life will be like as part of #TeamWoodhey. They met their new form tutors, explored their new environment, and began forming the friendships that will carry them through their high school journey.

It was a jam-packed schedule! Students took part in a wide range of teaching and learning activities across subjects including PE, Dance, Science, and Maths – to name just a few. They were enthusiastic, curious, and full of energy throughout, embracing every opportunity to try something new. The feedback from staff and students alike has been overwhelmingly positive.

One of the most talked-about highlights? The food! Our canteen was a big hit, with many students commenting on how much they enjoyed lunch and can’t wait to return.

These Transition Days are a key part of how we support our students in their personal development and wellbeing, ensuring they feel confident, excited, and prepared for the next step in their educational journey.

We are incredibly proud of how well our incoming Year 7 students embraced the experience. Their positivity, politeness, and eagerness to get involved show they’re more than ready to join the Woodhey family.

We can’t wait to welcome them officially into #TeamWoodhey in September!
